My
Experience:
I began digitizing in 1986,
employed by a large embroidery house as their graphic artist and head digitizer,
where much of my skill was gained, creating designs for commercial machines.
After acquiring my own equipment in 1995 I began Moonlight Design, an independent
custom digitizing service from my rural home office for both commercial
and domestic embroiderers. Moonlight's Design Shoppe was created
in 1998 in response to increasing demand for my stock designs, first as
a small portion of the Moonlight Design website, and has now grown to warrent
its own domain.
My Ability:
I'm a self-taught artist
without any degrees, but have been "at it" since I could hold a crayon
in my hand. And I've been acquainted with the art of embroidery since
my grandmother taught me how to hand embroider at the age of eight.
The creation of designs, whether with pencil, brush or thread, has always
been a passion.
My Work:
Due to the discipline I
acquired as an in-house puncher, extreme care is always taken when creating
a new design. Having once digitized at a time when no software was
available for the punching process, I incorporate old school methods and
strict rules, even when automatic functions supplied by today's software
are used. My designs are created using commercial software and test
sewn on both commercial and domestic machines. I guarantee all of
my work to run smooth and will fix any problem of my error if reported
immediately, free of charge. My goal is to make embroiderers smile.
:-)
My Awards:
I admit there's not many,
but when one doesn't enter contests, there's no chance of winning.
Instead, I've focused on creating quality embroidery designs with little
thought of competitions. The most I can list in this category for
now are two gold medals won in the 2002 Digitizing Olympics; Stitches Magazine
Great Greeting Card Contest, 1st in Holiday & Grand Prize overall;
as well as those many smiles received from satisfied customers.
Where you might find
me:
I'm a columnist for Stitches
Magazine, known as the bible of the industry, and contributing writer at
FreeEmbroideryStuff.com . I'm also a member of various Yahoo Groups
and I try to attend at least one embroidery event yearly in both
industry and home machine events. Speaking has not yet been added
to the agenda due to time constraints, however, I'm always willing to exchange
knowledge when possible. Most often, you'll find me where I work
and live with my husband, cats and goldfish, at our home in Cannon Falls,
Minnesota. And, as long as the Internet continues to operate well,
I can always be found by e-mail: moonltd@aol.com :-)
Many Smiles,
